Allegany, Garrett, and Washington counties will
be coming together at Allegany College of
Maryland in Cumberland for the ‘Summit of the
Public Libraries of Western Maryland’. The theme
for the summit will be ‘Building Something Great
Together’. Three years have passed since the last
regional conference was held at Rocky Gap in the
fall of 2006 and we at Western Maryland Regional
Library are eagerly anticipating seeing everyone
together again this fall!
As previously announced, the keynote speaker for
our day will be Warren Graham, aka the “BlackBelt
Librarian”. Mr. Graham is renowned as an expert
of day-to-day library security procedures and will
be sharing his knowledge and experience with us
during the morning. In the afternoon, participants
will be able to choose from a wide variety of breakout
sessions, including:
- More from Warren Graham
- Doing It Better: Increasing Your Effectiveness as a Readers’ Advisor
- Ergonomics and Office Yoga for Behind the Scenes Library Staff
- Job Searching 101: Helping Your Customers with the Job Search
- The Future of Customer Service: Redesigning the Customer Experience
- Sustainability/Doing More with Less $
Web registration for the break-out sessions will be
available by the end of August. We’re looking
forward to a day of sharing, learning, and fun!
